Café Nirvana isn’t a café at all, but it is a Nirvana of sorts – it has Hoegarden on tap. Hefty, dark wooden benches sit below mirrored walls in this mere cubby-hole of a bar. Alongside a refreshing cross-section of the community (read no drunk bankers) is good wine, beer and snacks at around two-thirds the price of Central bars.
Skirting the divide that marks Sheung Wan from Central, you get all the quiet, reasonable prices and lose none of the location. You’ll have to squeeze in if you turn up with a group but the Filipino staff are all superbly friendly and will make you feel right at home.
