‘Democratic dining’ comes to Hong Kong in sizes small, medium and large with concept restaurant SML. The Italian menu is extensive and everything is available in three sizes (including wines at a clever self-serve point where tasters start from HK$16). A comments card provided with the bill aims to gauge public opinion and act on it – it is a democracy after all.

For now the crispy pork belly and caramel profiteroles are especially good and likely to stick around. From HK$11 to over HK$200 a dish, there’s a democratic choice for your purse strings too.
