The Brunswick Green is nestled in amongst the restaurants, op shops and bridal stores of Sydney Rd, and is almost undetectable if you don’t keep a sharp lookout. Once inside, you’ll wonder how such a place can be so well hidden. The front bar area and performance room are dark and grungy, but wander up the back and it’s like a whole new venue. This room is littered with couches and lamps, and the floors are bare brick.
A pot belly stove keeps this area warm in winter, and the surrounding windows let in plenty of light. Outside, a huge beer garden including a stage is the place to see gigs in warmer weather. The Sunday Session gigs are free of charge, and every Thursday night there’s a new jazz act, also free. Open every day except Mondays, The Brunswick Green is a low-key, good value watering hole.
