A1 is without a doubt one of Melbourne’s best and cheapest Lebanese bakeries, and is a great spot to stop for a quick bite while you’re doing the tour of Sydney Rd. The place is large and pretty unattractive, but nobody cares. Here you can get a coffee for $2.50 plus your choice of yummy Lebanese snacks: Zaatar pizzas for $1.50, lamb pizzas for $3, cheese pies for $3.50 … the choices are varied, inexpensive and mouth-watering.
Lebanese sweets are also available for $1 each, or $18kg. At the far end of A1 is a shop section offering all kinds of goodies, from canned dips (which are surprisingly good) and bulk-buy olives to a selection of hookahs. A1 is open every day, until 7pm from Sunday to Wednesday and until 9pm from Thursday to Saturday. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it.
