This café/corner store is a relatively new addition to the populous Melbourne café milieu, but already it has established a very healthy following among locals and food critics alike. This place has very deliberately gone for an old-fashioned feel, where patrons can buy lunch, a milkshake and a bag of mixed lollies, and reminisce about the good old days when people were friendly and food was cheap.
Indeed, for an inner-suburbs café, the food here is relatively inexpensive; there’s nothing on the menu over $14. The décor in the very snug interior is retro, and outside there’s a smattering of tables, with crocheted woollen blankets available if the weather’s on the chilly side.
