New Guernica is all about the novelty factor. This new addition to Melbourne’s bar/nightclub scene includes a room that looks like something out of Hansel and Gretel, a kitchen complete with a hot-pink oven and stovetop, and a gazebo in the main bar area. The main room is large – too large to be cosy on a quiet night, but great when there’s a crowd in house.
In the drinks department, you can get selected jugs of beer for $13, a choice of three cocktail jugs for $20, and $20 spirits jugs. The wine list is decent, and there’s also a small bar food menu. Gigs are held here fairly regularly (check the website for details). New Guernica is open from 4pm on weekdays, 9pm on Saturdays and 7pm on Sundays.
