If you’re wondering where all Melbourne’s cool kids are, head to the Paris Cat jazz club. Once you descend the stairs and enter the bar, you’ll wish you’d brought your hat, gloves and a long black cigarette holder, just to look the part. This intimate venue channels 1930s Paris with its retro wall (and ceiling) art, chandelier mood lighting and a smattering of round wooden tables strewn around the bar space.
There are jazz gigs held here five nights of the week, generally with a $12–$15 cover charge (check the website for details). All cocktails are $15, and there is also a range of wines, beers and spirits available. If you’re a jazz lover, get your groove on at Paris Cat and enjoy the pure coolness of it all.
