Melbourne is a city unashamedly obsessed with all things vintage, so on a visit to Melbourne it makes sense to check out one of the city’s great little vintage stores. Thread Den, located down a small laneway in North Melbourne, is an especially good example of what Melbourne shopping has to offer. This little retail haven sells both designer clothes and vintage wear, and also operates as a sewing school for keen fashionistas.
Thread Den’s featured designers are all Australian – and mostly Melburnian, at that. The range of vintage clothing and footwear is decent and reasonably priced, especially if you raid the suitcase full of $8 goodies. Tip: Thread Den’s entrance is via Webbs Lane. Watch out for the small sign above the unmarked open doorway.
